Membrana Commercializes Small 0.5 x 1 MicroModule® Membrane Contactor
Membrana is pleased to announce the full commercialization of its 0.5 x 1 MicroModule® Membrane Contactors. The 0.5 x 1 MicroModule is available in two models that utilize different membranes. These membrane contactors were engineered specifically for two very different applications. The first contactor is used to debubble and remove gasses from low surface tension fluids such as ink, coating solutions, and various solvents.
The second device is used to debubble and degas fluids with similar surface tensions to water. This device is ideal for in-line degassing of water and buffer solutions in laboratory and analytical applications.
The 0.5 x 1 MicroModule Membrane Contactors utilize a revolutionary manufacturing design; they are the smallest membrane degassers of their kind. These contactors have 0.11 ft2 (100 cm2) of membrane area and one device can process up to 30 ml/min of liquid making them ideal for low flow in-line debubbling applications. Larger contactors are also available for degassing higher liquid flow rates. The 0.5 x 1 MicroModule is an integrally potted membrane contactor that does not utilize any o-rings or external metal clamps. This is important because o-rings can swell in operation and clamps can corrode.
Furthermore, the SuperPhobic MicroModule® Contactors have been field proven over the last year in many ink jet debubbling applications and they are already being used in many ink jet printers today. Ink degassing is important because ink jet print heads will misfire and/or shut down an ink jet printer if there is ink starvation at the print nozzle. Degassing or debubbling the ink prevents this starvation. The 0.5 x 1 MicroModule is ideally suited to be mounted directly on the ink jet print head. It is small and compact and provides efficient and proven in-line degassing and debubbling at low flow rates.
MicroModule®, MiniModule®, SuperPhobic® and Liqui-Cel® Membrane Contactors have been used around the world for over 20 years for adding or removing oxygen (O2), carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen (N2) to or from different liquids in the ink jet, coating & plating, laboratory & analytical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, medical, photographic, food & beverage, power and many other industries.
Additionally, Membrana offers liquid ring vacuum pumps to complement the membrane contactors.
