ABB Unveils New Software For Videographic Data Recorders
ABB has introduced the second generation of its software for the company’s range of ScreenMaster videographic data recorders. Called DataManagerPro, the software features an all-new operating platform that offers a wealth of powerful features for interrogating and presenting recorded data. Operators of the new software can now collect data from multiple recorders, either manually from their memory cards or automatically via a network, which can also include recorders located worldwide. All data is stored in DataManagerPro's database for secure long term storage, easy access and data integrity verification.
Open for use by both new and existing users of ABB's ScreenMaster recorders, DataManagerPro makes it possible to drill deeper into recorded data. Functions include the ability to compile graphical charts from the data, which show a range of different parameters that can be readily compared and contrasted. Using the new chart template function, operators can also now create templates of charts for specific types of data or processes. This allows them to present the latest data in a consistent format, speeding up data analysis. Data from a single recorder or selected data from multiple recorders can be viewed within a single chart or template, enabling side-by-side analysis of different processes or types of data.
Another key feature of the graphical charts is the inclusion of a dual cursor function. Using this function, operators can now access process statistics for selected periods of time. To enable operators to discover whether the process is within required limits, DataManagerPro includes a 'marker' function which shows the normal conditions for the process. This allows operators to quickly spot any deviations in the process.
For operators tasked with producing reports for compliance or product quality purposes, a major benefit of DataManagerPro is its range of presentation possibilities. All collected data can be easily presented as a chart, together with accompanying tables and statistics. Charts can also be annotated with event data such as alarms and operator messages that occurred at the time of recording. In addition, information can be securely added alongside the original data by DataManagerPro during data review, for example signing off a batch or production run.
For batch operators, there is also now the possibility of dividing data into 'packages', enabling them to save only data relating to a specific period or periods. This is particularly ideal for companies that specialize in providing contract batch services to more than one customer. By enabling them to provide a package containing only the necessary data, this feature avoids accidentally sharing data between customers, helping to maximize the security of customers' batch data.
When in receipt of a data package, a customer can use a limited functionality version of DataManagerPro to review the data, allowing them to benefit from the same data integrity verification features as the original provider of the data and check for themselves the integrity of the data.
