InspX Announces Advanced Detection Of Plastic Using X-Ray Inspection Technology

InspX’s New Plastic Detection Whitepaper Outlines State of the Art Inspection Techniques

Fremont, CA (PRWEB) - Detection of plastic foreign material in food and beverage containers has often been one of the hardest inspection applications. Plastics clearly can’t be detected with a metal detector and because many plastics have a density similar to water (with a specific gravity of 1), they can’t be detected with X-Ray systems either. Clearly not all plastic is X-Ray detectable but new inspection methods along with advances in material science mean that plastic is now more detectable than ever before.

New inspection advances in the latest InspX ScanTrac Systems materially improve the state of plastic detection. The ScanTrac Adagio dual energy system offer exceptional inspection resolution and can detect even lower density plastics. Furthermore, software advances in the InspX Trio leverage that system’s unique triple beam architecture to better detect irregular plastic pieces. InspX has also developed special algorithms that can inspect plastic itself to find voids and other deformities.

Additionally, a new generation of advanced food grade plastics are now available that offer excellent X-Ray detection – and at a cost that is only modestly higher than traditional materials.    For example, dense plastics such as PTFE or Viton can be readily detected in most applications at typical food and beverage line speeds. These plastics can be used to replace traditional plastics in existing applications including components such as conveyor parts, safety glasses and even band aides! When these plastics are used in combination with the latest InspX ScanTrac systems, the result is superior plastic detection!
