Odyssey Unit Acquires Hawaii Intermodal Tank Service

Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corp. said one of its affiliates has purchased bulk liquid food assets from tank equipment provider Hawaii Intermodal Tank Transport. Terms were not disclosed.

Odyssey said the Palmetto, Fla.-based company being acquired operates the largest fleet of refrigerated ISO tanks and double-insulated equipment for food-grade products.

“It is HITT’s ability to deliver environmentally responsible and sophisticated temperature controlled, high-purity logistics solutions for road, rail and ocean transport that earned them the competitive edge and impressive growth that drew OL&T’s attention,” said Robert Shellman, CEO of Odyssey Logistics.

The buyer, based in Danbury, Conn., said it is acquiring rights to use the Hawaii Intermodal Tank Transport brand. Newly purchased equipment is to be integrated with Odyssey’s Optimodal unit.

HITT’s aseptic, or sterile, transportation of food-grade products will continue in business as AsepTrans, the statement said.

Shellman also said that Odyssey will make additional acquisitions this year.
