PMMI Talks Robotics, Traceability And Retail-Ready Innovation At Interpack

Online platform helps attendees locate over 100 PMMI members showcasing processing and packaging innovation

Reduced dependence on foreign oil, more items “Made in the USA”, advanced robotics, exciting innovation in traceability technologies and retail-ready packaging were all on the docket at PMMI’s press conference to kick off interpack (May 8-14; Messe Dϋsseldorf, Dϋsseldorf, Germany). PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (Hall 12/F01), addressed the top trends and challenges impacting the North American manufacturing sector. Findings from the association’s report, “Quarterly Economic Outlook: Planning for 2nd Quarter 2014”indicate there is no need to second guess the US Industrial Production forecast of 1.9 percent growth this year.

In addressing the latest trends and challenges impacting North American manufacturers, PMMI provided updates on the PACK EXPO family of trade shows, including PACK EXPO International 2014 (Nov. 2-5; McCormick Place, Chicago, IL) where companies can find solutions to advance shelf impact, food safety, efficiency and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

“While an evolving regulatory landscape and economic uncertainty present manufacturers with hurdles, advanced processing and packaging technologies are building a bride to opportunities for growth,” says Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO of PMMI. “With over 100 member companies showcasing innovations at interpack – and PACK EXPO International and Pharma EXPO taking place this fall, we are dedicated to connecting manufacturers around the world with the innovations they need to thrive.”

As part of this initiative, PMMI has also launched Top101Innovators.com, an online platform where interpack attendees can conveniently identify and locate PMMI members exhibiting in Dϋsseldorf.
