A self-cooling in-container device called "CoolBev" was demonstrated at InterBev 2000. Described as a low-cost, self-contained, drop-in device requiring no external power, CoolBev displaces less than one-third of the total container volume and can lower beverage temperature by as much as 32 degrees Fahrenheit within two to three minutes. The result of 15 years of R&D, the compact, lightweight device incorporates a water chamber, dessicates, and an activation valve (the beverage opening mechanism).
