Aberdeenshire Craft Beer Firm BrewDog Nominated For Scottish Business Awards

Fraserburgh, UK (MARKETWIRE) - BrewDog has developed into the largest independent brewery in Scotland and has come a long way since its birth in 2007. Co-founder James Watt, has been recognised by the Scottish Business Awards as a nominee for Young Entrepreneur of the Year for how he penetrated the brewing industry with a unique business model.

BrewDog co-founders James Watt and Martin Dickie, share a passion for craft beer and that passion pours down into every department of the business. From special internet offers to guerrilla marketing - the BrewDog approach is contemporary, exciting and evidently successful.

James has positioned the business to allow customers to buy BrewDog beer online which in itself is a modernistic strategy but it is the BrewDog beer itself which catches the eye:

Their flagship product Punk IPA, a natural beer with an added twist of fruity hops, is homage to their favourite IPAs of the past. The drink progressed into the fastest growing alternative beer brand in the UK and is just one of the many triumphs for co-founder James. Punk IPA is available to order through BrewDog's online beer offers and can even be ordered in cans.

The world's strongest beer, End of History (55%), is another BrewDog baby which rapidly sold out through online sales. Sink the Bismarck and Tactical Nuclear Penguin, also amongst the high-percentage range from the craft beer enthusiasts, are available for home delivery on the site too.

Branding beers with such original names is an approach which coincides with the BrewDog ethos of 'breaking the rules and upsetting trends'. This informal and revolutionary angle adopted by James Watt, has allowed BrewDog to claim a substantial portion of the craft beer market.

Meanwhile, the BrewDog marketing campaign has been equally radical up to now. For example, in 2010 the Scots sent a dwarf to Westminster in what was dubbed 'The World's Smallest Protest' to argue against British Licensing laws regarding alcohol serving measures. The PR surrounding the protest was essentially free advertising and all still in the name of what BrewDog stand for - unsettling institutions and supporting great tasting beers.

It is no surprise James Watt has been nominated for Young Entrepreneur of the Year but at the rate BrewDog is growing, the microbrewery is destined for more accolades as a collective. To find out more or to place an order of craft beer for yourself visit www.brewdog.com .
