Autotech AT15 Hotmelt Unit
Autotech AT15 hotmelt unit for product packaging and assembly applications is designed for food and beverage cartoning, furniture assembly, automotive component subassembly, packaging of industrial and consumer goods, building construction components, and industrial and consumer product assembly.
Featuring a tank capacity of 15 lb, the unit may be equipped with one or two heated supply hoses. A microprocessor-based controller provides individual temperature control of tank, hose, and applicator zones. The tank has a smooth-coated surface to minimize adhesive char build-up and an integral melt grid to achieve fast adhesive warm-up.
The control of operator-adjustable functions is facilitated through a 100% graphical representation using internationally recognized symbols, eliminating language interpretation ambiguities and accommodating persons with low reading levels to reduce the margin of error when activating changes in operating modes or adjusting temperature zone settings. The angled front panel of the melt unit assists the operator in easily viewing the sealed touchpad-actuated membrane control switches and high-visibility LED temperature display, which may be set to Fahrenheit or Celsius scales.
The unit is compatible with a variety of RTD-based handguns and automatic applicators to produce extrusion patterns. By connecting the melt unit to a source of compressed air, regulated by an optional air control kit, spray and swirl patterns may be applied. The simplified switch and automated safety monitoring is designed to reduce on-the-job training. Built-in over temperature and pump warm-up monitoring circuits automatically shut down the melt unit if preset limits are exceeded. On-board diagnostics check system sensor circuitry for electrical integrity. The operator may activate a setback mode for reducing adhesive temperature in the tank to minimize adhesive degradation.
RTDs precisely monitor the temperature of each zone and provide signal inputs to the digital controller. In addition to independently monitoring and controlling adhesive temperature in the tank, hose, and applicator, the controller has a timing function to control pump operation, ensuring the same volume of adhesive is delivered during each dispense cycle to accomplish precision assembly, filling, or packaging tanks. Operator-adjustable from 0.1 sec-10 sec in 0.1 sec increments, the timing circuit energizes the pump motor for the pre-selected time and feeds adhesives to the applicator. When the desired interval is reached, the motor is de-energized.
