Vaisala's CARBOCAP Carbon Dioxide Transmitter Series (GMT220) Used In Measuring Carbon Dioxide in the Soft Drink and Beverage Industry
Carbon dioxide is a gas added soft drinks during the bottling process. This gives it fizz and prevents it from spoiling by reducing bacterial growth.
While the soft drink containers are filled during the bottling process, large volumes of carbon dioxide are emitted from the fillers from the filler room atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is twice as heavy as air, therefore it sinks and pools low to the groundl, displacing the oxygen in the air. CO2 is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, and dangerous gas. Its presence is not known until symptoms of exposure are experienced. Without proper detection, an accumulation of carbon dioxide could be deadly.
