Clearly Canadian's New Packaging Opens More Store Doors in U.S.

Clearly Canadian Beverage Corporation (Vancouver, B.C., Canada) has achieved significant new listings since the company unveiled a new look for its flagship brand, Clearly Canadian sparkling flavored water (see related article).

U.S. East
At A&P in metropolitan New York, 130 grocery stores have listed three regular and two diet flavors for its outlets.

Stop N Shop, one of the leading grocers in New England, has listed four of Clearly Canadian's flavors in 199 stores throughout the region.

New Clearly Canadian has now been approved for sale at 578 Publix stores throughout the State of Florida. Also in Florida, 147 Winn Dixie stores have agreed to list four flavors of new Clearly Canadian.

In Michigan, 50 Family Fair grocery stores will feature new Clearly Canadian on store shelves throughout the region.

U.S. West
In Texas, 60 Brookshire's grocery stores have listed new Clearly Canadian in all seven flavors, including five regular and the two new diet versions.

In Arizona, numerous listings have been achieved for new Clearly Canadian at grocery and supermarket outlets including ABCO Markets, family owned Bashas' supermarkets, Fred Meyers grocery stores and Fry's outlets.

Consumers can also now purchase new Clearly Canadian in five flavors at all 54 Albertsons stores in Colorado, 37 Albertsons in Reno, Nevada and 53 Albertsons stores in Oregon.

"We're encouraged by these gains in new U.S. listings for our redesigned product line, although we do not expect that these most recent new listings will meaningfully contribute to our top line until the third quarter of this year. During the second quarter, the new Clearly Canadian package required an intensive effort from our sales team to reintroduce the brand to our existing and new customers. However, our new look, new diet line extensions and the larger bottle are increasing the demand for Clearly Canadian sparkling flavored water. In fact, we have significantly increased our sales force in the second quarter to maximize the distribution opportunities for our new package," said Douglas Mason, president and CEO of Clearly Canadian Beverage Corporation.

The new Clearly Canadian was first launched in a national roll-out throughout the United States and Canada in March 2000. Featuring a bold new design, Clearly Canadian sparkling flavored water is available in a larger, proprietary 14-oz (414-ml) clear glass bottle with multi-colored labels that cover the entire bottle and topped with a bright silver cap. The ultra modern label design features large splashes of colour that depict the product's refreshing natural flavors.
