The 470Si is the only IP66/NEMA4X rated small character continuous ink jet printer (CIJ) on the market. Hygienic industries such as dairy, food, beverage and brewery plants frequently expose their packaging equipment to harsh, high-pressure wash downs to maintain a clean work environment. This coding system, with its stainless steel enclosure, is designed and tested to accommodate these challenging environments. If equipment enclosures do not have an IP66/NEMA4X rating ensuring complete protection against dust and streaming water, they must be removed from the area during cleaning.
The printer is capable of coding up to 2000 soft drink cans per minute with eight characters per inch. The umbilical and the cabinet itself have been designed to be smooth and free from dirt traps, making the unit suitable for use in hygienic areas. The smooth umbilical is available in the standard 3-m length or an optional 6-m length. The system incorporates a Peltier condenser to reduce solvent consumption to less than 5cc's per hour. It is also fitted with a 70 micron diameter nozzle to optimize print quality, achieving up to 77 million printed characters (single line 7 x 5) with one liter of ink.
