Coors Brewers Ltd. Uses Innovative New Loadmaster System For Self Merchandising Display Pallets

Coors Brewers Ltd. Has Become The First UK Brewer To Use DS Smith Packaging Innovative New Loadmaster System For Self Merchandising Display Pallets

Loadmaster pallets have been trialled by Coors Brewers, for a Carling promotion in Sainsburys stores in Scotland, marking Carling's sponsorship of the "Old Firm " Rangers and Celtic football teams with a unique 6 can pack.

The patented Loadmaster system comprises a series of trays with interlocking divisions, building in both lateral and vertical strength to ship up to a tonne of liquid. The pre-assembled divisions, produced from C or B flute corrugated board, give sufficient support to the pack to allow product to be removed from any layer of the pallet without disturbing the remaining packs, leaving the display in good condition throughout its life in store.

Product and divisions are contained within large corrugated trays, printed for brand recognition, which are then removed as each layer of product is consumed. The bottom tray can be locked onto either wooden pallets, RDPs or dollies to prevent slippage during transit and in store, whilst an inverted top tray, removed in store, gives transit protection to the top layer of product.

Adrian Davey – Coors Brewers Director of Sales for Retail commented on the trial and its potential for multiple retailers:

"The Carling branded shippers are a great innovation for multiple retailers to maintain availability; by providing a pre-merchandised attractive beer display, without retail staff having to stack shelves a case at a time.

"Availability of lager at peak times is essential for shoppers and we hope this trial within Sainsbury's in Scotland will provide insight into how easy the shipper works in store; and also its versatility to be used as a free standing display.

"We believe the trial will be a great success for promotional packs in store, and my team look forward to working alongside retail customers to provide shipper solutions in the near future."

James Laws, Commercial Manager for Sainsbury's said:

"The Carling Old Firm merchandised unit is a great innovation for re-stocking beer in our stores - it helps us re-stock quickly without any heavy lifting. The Old Firm promotion has been a great success so far and we look forward to seeing the final results in sales terms.

"The branded unit is also extremely versatile, as it can be placed in any position around the store, e.g. free-standing or within a row of beer. This helps us to install a display quickly, on key occasions for example Old Firm match days to gain maximum benefit for the promotion."

The Carling design tray is printed in 2 colours post print, but Loadmaster trays can use the full range of DS Smith's print capabilities , including 7 colour litho, high quality post print or pre-print, and silk screen.
