Duyun Maojian Tea Forest Enters Spring Harvest Season In Guizhou, China

Duyun /PRNewswire/ - Duyun Maojian tea leaves mainly grow in Duyun, Qiannan Buyei-Miao Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Guizhou Province. In history, they were used to pay homage to the imperial court and were given the name "fishhook tea" in reference to the shape of their leaves when dried.

In 2022, Duyun Maojian tea making techniques were included in the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list. Last year, the value of the regional public brand "Duyun Maojian" reached more than 4.89 billion yuan (more than 621 million euros).

In Qiannan Prefecture, the tea industry helps increase farmers' income and serves as a pillar to drive rural revitalization. In 2023, the sales volume of tea leaves in the prefecture reached 60,800 tons, with a sales value of 11.9 billion yuan and an export value of 31.91 million yuan.

The main production areas of Duyun Maojian tea leaves are characterized by low latitude, high altitude, little sunshine and abundant clouds. The favorable ecological environment and exquisite manufacturing techniques result in high-quality Duyun Maojian tea. The leaves have pretty shapes and give off a unique scent.

Duyun Maojian focuses on brand, quality and flavor to produce clean and high-quality tea leaves. In terms of regional brand value, Duyun Maojian is in the top green tea camp in China.

Qiannan Prefecture will focus on building digital foundations for tea gardens, establishing a product traceability system in the main producing areas of Duyun Maojian, upgrading the tea industry so that it is moving from traditional to modern agriculture, as well as the transformation of the brand into market share. Thus, Duyun Maojian will become a big industry and enrich its people.
