International Grading for SA's Leading Juice Manufacturer

SOUTH AFRICA'S leading manufacturer of 100% natural fruit juices, Ceres Fruit Juices (CFJ), has been awarded the highly coveted ISO 9001 listing by the International Standards Organisation.

"This prestigious accreditation confirms CFJ's world class competitiveness and further enhances its standing in global markets,"says Mr Pieter Hanekom, managing director of CFJ.

At its plant in Ceres, CFJ produces a wide range of fruit juice products which are marketed under the brand names, Ceres, LiquiFruit, Fruitree and Capri-Sonne. With its corporate office in Paarl, the group currently exports to over 40 countries in Africa, Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, Asia and North America.

"In addition to the ISO 9001 listing, CFJ recently received an Award for Excellence from the American Tasting Institute in recognition of its innovative products," says Mr Jan Marais, CFJ Marketing Director.

In the preparations leading to the ISO-certification, all aspects of the group's management and production processes were critically evaluated by local and international analysts. The final audit was implemented by the SA Bureau of Standards (SABS).

According to Dr Willem Botha, CFJ Technical Manager, the company effected various improvements to its quality control system and its manufacturing and distribution processes during the rigorous ISO-implementation process.

"CFJ now complies with international standards in the manufacture, storage, and distribution of fruit juices, as well as in product development, sales, marketing, human resources and financial management," says Dr Botha.

Mr Steven Lashmar, SABS certification manager in the Western Cape says the SABS is proud of its association with CFJ.

"The SABS is committed to playing a value-adding role in its partnership with CFJ. We will assist them in developing a sustainable competitive advantage in local and global markets," says Mr Lashmar.

Mr Hanekom says CFJ is fully geared for the challenges posed by growing global competition. "We are privileged In South Africa to have ready access to an entire range of choice quality deciduous, sub-tropical and tropical fruits in one country. Now CFJ also has the international certification to compete with the best in the world," he says.
