New High-Speed 6-Pack Carrier Erector and Multipacker for Beverages

Source: Pearson Packaging Systems

The new DX150 Carrier Erector and S1150 Multipacker utilize continuous-motion and servo-driven technologies to provide beverage manufacturers with systems that run more than 50% faster than Pearson's existing designs. In a typical beverage line installation, the new high-speed designs reduce the number of lines needed to supply 100 cases/min from three lines to two, reducing floor space required by 30%, reducing equipment cost by approximately 20%, and eliminating maintenance and operation of 6 machines. With an optional lane diverter, production of carriers sent to the multipacker can be maintained up to 100% redundancy, depending on line speed.

The new DX150 Carrier Erector erects up to 150 carriers per minute. Two DX150 units feed the new S1150 Multipacker loading 200 carriers per minute into 50 shipping cases. Two of these lines output 100 cases per minute. The DX150 uses continuous-motion to maximize up-time and minimize maintenance requirements. No-tool changeover is done in less than 15 minutes and hinged guard doors swing up on both sides of the machine for quick and easy access for operation and maintenance.

The S1150 Multipacker uses servo technology to pack 50 cases per minute, providing higher speeds and greater reliability than the previous air cylinder design. A unique Moving Gripper Head is used to create the gap needed to feed two cases per packing cycle. With a no-tool changeover in less than 15 minutes, the S1150 can pack beverage carriers into trays, RSC cases, HSC cases, and tab-lock cases. Pearson's Y1903 Partition Inserter can be added to the system, allowing the lines to be converted from paper bottle carriers to cell partitions in the case.
