North American Coffee Partnership unveils new Frappuccino® coffee drink

The North American Coffee Partnership (NACP), a joint venture between Starbucks Coffee Company and PepsiCo, Inc., announced today the unveiling of a new flavor to complement the existing bottled Frappuccino® coffee drink line-up – Hazelnut.

"Hazelnut is one of the most popular flavor additions to espresso beverages at Starbucks coffeehouses, so this is a natural flavor extension for us," said Keith Reimer, general manager of the NACP. "Based upon the enthusiasm from Starbucks retail customers we are confident this will be a welcomed addition."

The newest offering is currently available in West Coast markets and in Chicago, Texas and Oklahoma. Distribution to the entire country is expected by September 2001.

Starbucks bottled Frappuccino can be found in grocery stores, convenience stores, select Starbucks locations and a variety of other outlets. Ready-to-drink Hazelnut Frappuccino is available in single-serve 9.5-ounce bottles and four-packs of 9.5-ounce bottles. Six other flavors are available, including coffee, mocha, mocha lite, caramel, vanilla, and mocha amaretto.

"Consumers know and trust that a Starbucks branded product will be an exceptionally high quality product," adds Reimer. "Because of our dedication to quality, bottled Frappuccino remains the leader in the ready-to-drink coffee category."

Formed in 1994, the North American Coffee Partnership produces a bottled version of one of Starbucks most popular blended, cold coffee beverages. The partnership combines Starbucks standing as North America's leading retailer, roaster and brand of specialty coffee with Pepsi's record of beverage innovation and distribution-system strength. Coffee Frappuccino, the inaugural flavor of the bottled line, was introduced in 1996 and quickly elevated Starbucks bottled Frappuccino to the leader in the ready-to-drink coffee category.
