PepsiCo Names Leaders of Pepsi Bottling Group

PepsiCo, Inc. has divided its North American Pepsi-Cola business into two separate units: a bottling company, led by Craig Weatherup, and a concentrate company focused on innovation and the marketing of Pepsi-Cola brands, led by Philip Marineau. The new structure is intended to allow PepsiCo to compete more effectively in the beverage business and to better serve its retail customers.

The bottling unit, to be called the Pepsi Bottling Group based in Somers, NY, will comprise all North American bottling operations owned by PepsiCo and could eventually be expanded to include some international bottling operations. Craig Weatherup will be chairman and CEO.

Weatherup, a 24-year veteran of PepsiCo's beverage business, has been global chairman and CEO of Pepsi-Cola since 1996. His broad background in the beverage industry includes extensive direct operating experience in the bottling business.

PepsiCo's concentrate unit, to be called Pepsi-Cola North America, will comprise the non-botling elements of Pepsi-Cola and will be lead by Philip Marineau.

Marineau joined PepsiCo in 1997, after serving as president of Dean Foods and president of Quaker Oats. He has more than 20 years of experience developing brand building strategies.
