Quality control in beverage industry ascribes considerable importance to the determination of °Brix and the CO2 content in beverages. Conventional methods only allow the separate determination of °Brix and CO2. Besides, conventional methods always required degassing of the sample prior to °Brix measurement.

Simultaneous determination of °Brix and CO2 content with the PBA-S

The PBA-S combines the following Anton Paar meters:

  • DMA 4100/4500/5000 density meter
  • CarboQC lab and at-line beverage carbonation meter
  • PFD filling

The PBA-S (Packaged Beverage Analyzer for Soft Drinks) allows the determination of °Brix and CO2 content simultaneously. Degassing of the sample prior to measurement is not required. The sample is transferred by pressurized air (6 bar) directly from the container (bottle or can) into the measuring chambers where it is subsequently analyzed. This procedure proves to be very time-saving (the analysis with a PBA-S is performed four times faster than any conventional method).
