Spartanburg Stainless Opens New Facility

Spartanburg Stainless Products, Inc. (Spartanburg, SC) last month opened their new headquarters office and manufacturing center. Formerly a part of Spartanburg Steel Products, Spartanburg Stainless Products has been involved in a 19 month long program to establish itself as a separate organization and to merge with its affiliate, Sharpsville Container, Inc. (Sharpsville, PA).

Spartanburg Stainless Products produces stainless steel beer kegs, as well as an extensive line of stainless steel containers from 1.3 to 5,000 gallons in size for the chemical and food processing industries.

Sharpsville Container manufactures a wide selection of standard and custom-designed stainless steel and plastic containers and equipment for the shipping, processing and storing of bulk products.

The new Spartanburg plant will manufacture kegs, small chemical containers, stainless steel sinks, carbonators and other fabricated products, using newly developed methods and equipment, much of it proprietary. Production of other Spartanburg Stainless products, including closed-loop aseptic containers, has been shifted to the Sharpsville Division.

The new plant, which has a total of 103,000 sqft, was designed with approximately 20% more floor space than is needed at this time to allow for new products and project growth.

In addition, Spartanburg is also implementing a new integrated Management Information System that includes Manufacturing Requirements Planning as part of the Materials Planning Module. Information from this system will allow Spartanburg to better schedule and control the manufacturing processes.
