Tree Top to Purchase Seneca Foods Processing Facility
Tree Top, Inc. has entered into an agreement with Seneca Foods Corp. to purchase Seneca's processing facility in Prosser, WA. Also included in the intended purchase is Seneca's non-branded specialty fruit concentrates business and the exclusive license to Tree Top of the Seneca brand for all applesauce products. Target date to finalize the acquisition is January 31st.
"The acquisition comes at a time when the volume of processing apples is at a near-record high," said Tree Top CEO, Tom Stokes. "This move will assist Tree Top in accommodating the continued large volume of member tons projected for the future."
The company intends to fully utilize the 180,000 sqft facility.
The Seneca Foods Corporation is primarily a fruit and vegetable-processing company with manufacturing facilities located throughout the U.S. In August, Seneca announced that its juice division would be sold to Northland Cranberries, Inc.
Tree Top is a grower-owned cooperative with 2,500 active members in the states of Washington, Oregon and Idaho. The cooperative currently operates four processing plants in Washington State and a bottling facility in Rialto, CA.
