Trident Ultrajet II Printhead Helps Atd Inkjet Systems Gain E.Centre Bar Coding Accreditation
ATD Inkjet Systems is e.centre certified for bar coding
ATD Inkjet Systems, a leading manufacturer of ink jet printers for variable information coding in industrial applications, recently received accreditation for meeting the General EAN.UCC Specifications for bar codes.
The ATD IP9000/2 bar coding equipment features advanced software, which allows reliable and cost effective printing of ‘on-line' barcodes, real time information, logos and customer specific information.
A key element of the ATD IP9000 equipment is the Trident UltraJet II ink jet printhead. The UltraJet II printhead features a stainless steel construction and patented compliant chamber that makes it both durable and highly shock resistant. This provides for reliable and clear bar code printing even under the harshest of factory and packaging floor environments.
"The Trident printhead delivers premium performance we need to meet the requirements set forth by the e.centre", said Paul Reeve, Sales and Marketing Director at ATD.
The printhead works seamlessly with Trident's ScanTrue II ink, which has the ability to control dot spread. This enables generation of the narrow x-dimension bars required for EAN 128 and ITF 14 bar codes. "This is a fundamental ingredient in providing our customers with consistent, verifiable bar code printing," continued Reeve.
The accreditation was based on compliance with performance guidelines established by the e.centre, the UK representative of EAN International, the organization responsible for managing the global EAN.UCC system for identifying and tracking products throughout the supply chain.
The e.centre conducted an exhaustive survey of ink jet technology for fiberboard coding and in the spring of 2002 announced a set of best practice guidelines. This document outlined a list of checks and procedures that will ensure that purchasers of ink jet printing equipment are able to print consistent, high quality bar codes – including the more complex EAN 128 and ITF 14 bar codes- onto fiberboard cases.
"The e.centre report showed the industry that there is a new generation of ink jet printing technology capable of consistently providing verifiable bar codes," concluded Reeve. "ATD Inkjet System's accreditation by the e.centre highlights the ability of ATD to deliver reliable ink jet printing systems that generate significant cost savings and greater production efficiencies for our customers."
