Wine Filtration

Modern premium winemaking involves minimal filtration, mostly for clarification and purification prior to bottling, but it is essential to wine quality that it be done properly.

Most depth filtration is done post-fermentation, primarily to remove remaining particulate. White wines require tighter filtration, which can be achieved through the use of ErtelAlsop Micro-Media® Grade M-704*. ErtelAlsop Micro- Media® Grade M-504* could be used to filter red wines, which do not demand the same fine filtration whites do. Anticipated flow rates will range between 0.25 gallons per minute per square foot and 2 gallons per minute per square foot.
